Editorial policy

Mello publishes practical education about diabetes in dogs and cats alongside tracking and communication tools. This policy explains how we aim to keep that content useful, transparent, and appropriately cautious.

Our articles are general education for pet owners. They are not a diagnosis, prescription, emergency service, or substitute for a veterinarian who knows the animal’s history.

We prioritise veterinary guidance, recognised professional standards, and primary or high-quality secondary sources when developing health content. Where appropriate, pages identify the organisations or guidelines that informed them, including WSAVA and ACVIM materials.

References support the educational context; they do not turn Mello content into individual medical advice. We avoid presenting a single source as universal when clinical circumstances can differ.

Mello content is written and maintained by an editorial team. A page is not labelled vet-reviewed unless that review has actually taken place. We do not use invented reviewer names, invented qualifications, fabricated outcomes, or unsupported claims about adherence, call-volume reduction, or clinical results.

Safety-sensitive pages include a reminder to contact a veterinarian. For possible hypoglycaemia, collapse, seizures, severe weakness, repeated vomiting, or another emergency, contact an emergency veterinary service immediately rather than relying on a website.

We review content when guidance changes, a material error is identified, or a page is otherwise due for maintenance. Pages may show publication or modification dates where available.

If you find an error, outdated recommendation, broken reference, or misleading claim, please email hello@mello.vet with the page URL and the issue. We will assess corrections in context and update the page when warranted.

Some product links may use affiliate relationships. If a link is commercial, we aim to disclose that relationship near the relevant recommendation and in our affiliate disclosure page.

Commercial relationships do not determine clinical guidance. We do not accept payment in exchange for a positive health claim or a fabricated testimonial.

We will identify clinical reviewers and their relevant credentials when a page has been reviewed. Until a review is confirmed, content should be understood as editorial education informed by cited sources, not as veterinary-authored advice.

Mello is an early-stage product. We would rather say that a review or evidence is not yet available than imply a level of authority we cannot substantiate.
